Commercial Director — Complex Government Bids

Our client is a UK subsidiary of a multi billion dollar global organisation. Professional and effective commercial management is a key element of its customer focussed strategy for developing its business, both as it relates to the selection and pursuit of new opportunities as well as to the ongoing management of effective relationships with its existing customers and third party suppliers.

This role will take responsibility for a department managing the commercial arrangements with specific customers whilst developing effective long term business relationships. It will also involve leading the bid management of major tender opportunities, ensuring that the company is perceived as a quality solutions provider and the number one choice for its existing and prospective customers. You will manage the full bid lifecycle, lead the final negotiation stages of major bids and leverage new projects by identifying emerging opportunities.

You will be responsible for analysing contracts for risk and developing any corresponding risk management strategies and will also make a significant contribution to developing new business opportunities in support of the company's growth objectives. The role will also have responsibility for the commercial arrangements with the company's third party suppliers.

The position will operate cross departmentally particularly with the board and the business development, account management and technology and innovation teams and also the operational teams as appropriate. The role is high profile and will involve extensive contact with the company's clients so a high level of personal credibility and gravitas will be essential.

Successful applicants will have commercial management experience gained in a customer focussed, solutions-driven business environment. You will have demonstrable experience of playing a lead role and succeeding in complex, multi million pond bid opportunities.
